Salima Givens

Salima is the Corporate Controller for Meals of Hope, responsible for all financial aspects of the company in addition to Human Resources, IT, Marketing, Grant Writing and Operations duties.   She joined Meals of Hope in 2015 when there was only one food pantry and one truck.  Today we have 15 food pantries and a fleet of 7 vehicles.  Revenues today are 10 times what they were in 2015.  Prior to Meals of Hope, Salima gained 30 years of Accounting experience with more than half of it in the non-profit sector.  BS in Accounting from the University of South Florida.  Completed 5th year graduate classes at Florida Gulf Coast University.  2022 graduate of Leadership SWFL.

I grew up serving meals at a homeless shelter.  My father had a passion for feeding people.  This was a perfect way for me to continue his legacy both as an accountant and in battling hunger in the community.  I’m involved with a few other local non-profits including the Humane Society of Naples, Naples Cat Alliance, Taste of Immokalee/Taste the Impact and Dress for Success.  My son volunteered for Meals of Hope at meal packing events as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout, earned all of his  required high school volunteer hours working at the food pantries and now works part-time for Meals of Hope while attending college.
